UPCOMING EVENT

November 22, 2015. 1:30 PM. Join us for the 25th Annual Lawrence Greenway Hike in the Drexel Woods. The Drexel Woods are in Lawrence Township at the end of Fernwood Drive off US 206.

The hike will begin in the nature center and will explore the meadow and our various trails, green, blue, and white. After the hike we will gather in the center for light refreshments.

These annual hikes have been an enjoyable and valuable part of our greenway work. Attendance has varied, with the best attendance occurring when the Trenton Times ran articles on the hikes from Rider to Trenton State College in ’95, and in the Mercer Meadows looking for short-eared owls in ’08. Over the years the Lawrence Greenway has hiked trails in most of our parks: Central Park, the Johnson Trolley Line, Turtleback Park, Carson Road Woods and Shipetaukin Woods, the D&R towpath, the Loveless Nature Preserve, the Pole Farm, Maidenhead Meadows, Colonial Lake, the Salt/Bossio Preserve, and Village Park. The hikes have also introduced the public to the campuses of local schools: Rider University, the Collegeof New Jersey, Notre Dame High School and The Lawrenceville School.

Please join us as we talk about trails and open space in Lawrence Township at the township's Trails and Open Space Committee meetings. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM in the Manager's Conference Room of the Municipal Building. Use the building entrance opposite to the police building. Go up a few steps, turn right, and enter the first door on your left.
